The Versalab Grinder
the real taste of espresso

Effective July 1, 2007 the grinder will be $1550, which is the bare price. The Portafilter Holder and Dosing Hopper options are extra cost options. See at the bottom for why.

With the NEW OPTIONS this is the ultimate coffee bar grinder. If you want to have the best, there is no other choice. 1. A scale with numbered cursors for multi-users (unless you use our Espresso PRESS where the pressure of packing is perfectly uniform from cup to cup) 2. A porta-filter holder. Free up the barista while it grinds. 3. Multiple hoppers. These hoppers have a variable volumetric doser. Pull, push and a correct volume of beans falls into the top funnel. One hopper, or two hoppers for two coffees.

Do not be fooled by some big name new grinders being marketed as"single shot/single dose" grinders. They have only done half the job that is needed to produce a clean cup, definitely not created a machine to match the Versalab Grinder.

"Received the grinder on Thursday.  It is fantastic, and lives up to the expectation and reputation.
Thanks so much." Mike S, Dallas TX

Any coffee shop, or roaster, or cupper will finally get fully in control of their product.

Any espresso lover will be in a new world of experience.

All other grinders first mix the present grind with the last grind, old grounds, and even ancient grounds. Then they mash the stuff all together making a rather oily mess. No wonder espresso is never quite as nice as the smell of the beans.

The volume of old grounds that remain in most popular professional grinders will heap and overflow the palm of your hand. The previous coffee, stale, past stale, really old stuff back to when the machine was first used, will dull the flavor of pours continuously. Off flavored beans, unhappy roasts profiles, will flavor pours for an afternoon.

Just outside the burrs in conventional machines, the freshly ground fines are clumped together, and joggled along interspersed with the old residue, to finally fall clumped into the doser. Then in the doser, they are further bashed together falling clumped into the portafilter. What a way to treat coffee!

The Versalab Grinder does none of these things - otherwise why would we point them out!

One dose of beans goes into the top funnel, and one dose of ground espresso falls nicely into the portafilter. The coffee particles are so much more fluffy that they take up a good bit more space, before packing, than the conventional bruised and bashed brew.

About the M3 Grinder.

The Grinder is designed such that beans are poured into the top funnel and exit out of the bottom funnel. There are wipers to prevent residue.

It is pretty quiet since it is made from very precision parts that are rigidly fastened together - hence minimal vibration.
Why does the Grinder now cost a lot more?
All of our costs have risen quite a lot since this product was introduced. In recent years the increase in cost of metals has created quite a serious problem for all manufacturers. It is thought that the demand for materials in China is the reason. Cardboard, plywood, all has gone up. I heard that it has become worthwhile to ship scrap cardboard to China! Our machining costs have risen as we have changed vendors in order to improve quality control. Likewise with powder coating.
